Well, I found an old town car with an EFI 5.0 in it that looks to be in pretty good shape still. I'll probably talk with the owner of the junk yard about selling it to me, and see where it goes from there.

If there is no transmission at all in the car, you're not going to be able to test fire it. The starter bolts to the transmission.
For what its worth, I'd be looking for a Mark VII to swap the motor from. HO powered, so you get another 70 hp instead of an extra 5. Ratty Marks with dead suspension are usually easy to find. Everyone gets scared of the air suspension, or the wierdo brake system and lets them go for cheap.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
