Please let us know if things are working or not. This is still somewhat a work in progress so don't be too surprised if things magically appear from one visit to the next.
Lol yea I am thinkin about a Ford Super Duty T5. I am probably gonna have a shop do most of the work, like build the motor, and if I do a manual swap I will have a shop set that up, cuz I dont have the skill or patience. But the biggest problem lies in the fact that I suck at driving a stick, and I really dont wanna learn on a $1200 tranny. I have tried to drive my brothers 2002 Audi (stalled twice mainly due to him yelling "let the clutch out slower...SLOWER, you dip shit!!! If you hurt it you are paying for it"). Then my friends dad let me drive his new Corolla which I only got to hook once. I cant stand the one foot for clutch and brake stuff...its frustrating.
There is really not much you have to learn. And not to discourage you but you are going to have a massive bill if a shop is going to do all of your work.
Yea I know its gonna cost $$ I am planning on getting a small loan and using it to help pay for the work. Thats another reason I am probably not going to do the manual swap, to much trouble and extra money on top of the money I am going to be handing over to the engine shop.

If you need help, i'm not that far away. Provided you have space to do it i could help install the stuff there. Come february/march i'm setting up a little 'shop' in wilmington, so that'd be another option. I wont rape you in the ass for money like a shop will either, lol...
Maybe you could help me with the reinstall of the motor, cuz my old man HATES ford (mopar guy) and hes not going to want to help me lol. Thanks for the offer mang! Also this probably wont start till sometime next summer or winter.
Woah, you are a lucky guy. And not to beat a dead horse but the most difficult process of the 5 speed swap will just simple be removing all of the electrical connectors of you steering column so you can drop it and remove the brake pedal assembly. Removing an engine is more difficult than a 5 speed swap. Okay I stop now.

I really think its best to learn to drive a stick on something old and underpowered. I first learned at age 12 on a 1981 Civic.
I would imagine the '02 Audi was similar to my Mom's '04 VW Beetle. The clutch is what I call "vague"; there is not a very positive engagement. The other thing is, the car revs slow, but the revs fall off rapidly. I am more used to my truck; the engagement is not as vague, more positive, and it holds the revs nicely when I blip the gas.
If you want positive engagement, you can't beat an old pick-up truck, or big truck for that matter.
Also, back on topic. If you're going to rebuild the engine, rebuild it to be better than it is now. An HO conversion at minimum. Also, I wouldn't worry yourself with a 5 speed at this point in time. A firm shifting automatic is very enjoyable in one of these cars.

Mark VIIIs also have 24# injectors, and so do 4.6 DOHC Continentals.
The Cobra cam is actually originally sourced from the 92 Tbird from what I understand. Its slightly torquier than the regular HO cam to deal with the extra weight of the Bird and the Cobra. Not a major change, and not really worth the premium coin they seem to go for. HO stick or an Explorer cam will do fine and those are common as anything. I've also been told by several people the tune on the Cobra ECM is not all that special. Yes it uses a 24# injector but thats really nothing you can't do with a tuner, nor is it needed with the specs of a stock Cobra motor. The MAF is the same as a stock 94-95 Mustang too, so thats also not a particularly special part. The only thing thats really special about that motor is the shaved GT40 heads, the GT40 tubular intake that you can't easily reverse, and the rockers. An Explorer motor has GT40 or P heads (which are better actually), an intake that flows the same and can be more easily spun around to fit in a Panther, and you can get the rockers aftermarket.
Reason the tubular intake is less easy to use is because of the integrated EGR. Theres no spacer like the Panthers use, so you can't switch out the spacer and make the stock throttle bracket work. If you make up some adapters you can probably come up with something, but the egr valve itself will be on the back side of the intake, and may be in your way.

hmm you prove a lot of good points. Like I said the Cobra Vic thing was just an idea I have been throwing around for a while, I will most likely just do a 306 HO with some Mustang valvecovers for that extra "whoa" when I pop the hood.
