    tranny & cruise control

    Dear Gurus,
1989 Colony Park Wagon. High speed interstate travel. 175k/ Tranny rebuilt every 30 k miles. Last rebuild: all is well except the cruise control won't downshift up hills, it just kicks out. For $1200 I think the tranny guy needs to make it right. comment?

First of all why is your tranny getting rebuilt every 30k. Mine has over 200k on it. If the same tranny guy is doing it everytime id take it elsewhere. About the hills and downshifting, its probably the tv cable.

check the vacuum lines to the cruise control, also check the vacuum can (looks like a soupcan) and the line to it
sounds to me like you are experiencing a loss of vacuum under load (not enough to keep the cruise servo activated)
btw the cruise control is in no way hooked to the ford aod transmission
check it out and let us know your results
      good luck
