    Interpreting Belt Numbers

For the 3g conversion I am going to purchase belt # K060507 (My current belt is shot anyway). Does this have any other universal codes? I just dread the day that I must fight with the parts guy trying to get a simple belt so I am trying to make things as easy as possible.

    Thanks...

Most parts guys are pretty small, but once the guys from the back get involved, you're done.

Most real parts stores should have a clue. You know, other than autozone and advance...If you are lucky.

Dave, that is a GATES/CARQUEST number, so you should have no trouble finding somebody (with a brain, that is) who can cross-reference it. In fact, it was the guys at the CARQUEST we deal with at work that came up with the number for me.

                  This isnt rocket science.

                  the K06 means its a 6 rib belt. 507 means its a 50.7" belt.
depending on how much adjustment you have a a 50.5" or 51" belt should work just as well.

you can play with the pulley sizes too.... useing the smaller pulley from the stock 2G alternator on your 3G alternator increases the charging voltage and will take a slightly shorter belt.

Thanks that is what i was trying to learn

So does the "0" mean anything between the K06 and the 507??

                    K060507?

basically, the 0 is just a place holder since the belt length could potentially be 4 digits long

for example K081223... K08 means an 8 rib belt that is 122.3" long. the 0 is just a place holder.
you could have a K10xxxx belt, which would be an 10 rib belt. 8 and 10 rib belts are used in Medium and Heavy duty applications.
