    Exhaust....

OK, here is some shots of my OLD exhaust... presently getting replaced by:
    Mustang "H" pipe
    TWO turbo mufflers
Two exhaust pipes out to the rear bumper....

The muffler guy found some round, (instead of the oval) mufflers that will fit in between the under body fuel pump, and the rear end/driveshaft... with enough room so there will be no heat problems with the fuel system.

More pictures after he is done.

Here is the great exhaust pipe the last owner put on the car.... GEEEZ...

Can we say just a small leak at the connection????

Side note... I was impressed by how good the underside of the car looked for a 20 year old car.... just some very minor surface rust. This is the first time I was able to get under the car and really look at the underside.
Some minor rust control, (Phospho!) and then re- undercoat the car... And it will look good underneath.

          Exhaust.. and other things....

I really was NOT impressed with the past owners "mechanic" skills... MOST of the mechanical things I have had to do to the car was undoing his "modifications".....

With the Exhaust system, ($500.00) and the other work I have done this week... it comes to almost $875.00... I put $375.00 into alot of little things like U-Joints, new power steering hoses, tuneup, trans mount, and putting the new double hump crossmember in, so I can get it dualled.... And some other minor stuff. And I still have to put the new windshield in. (another $175.00) Payday after next, we will get the A/C system going... New dryer, orfice tube, and R-134.... Hopefully it will be as cold as my '91! The car really runs good now... and it will probably run even better once the exhaust is in... since the new exhaust will even everything out.... And be less restricted. Only other thing that I have to fix this week is the kick down lever needs adjusted on the trans... it will go straight over to my friends shop after the exhaust shop.

            The NEW exhaust.....

Here are the pictures of the new exhaust system!!!

            Old pipes...

            NEW Pipes!!!

Fuel pump clearance... he ran it for about 30 minutes and then used one of the infrared temperature thermometers... it only went up about 5 degrees....

He would have been done with it today.. but he needed the airpipe tubing... (red circle) he didn't have any, so he will finish it up tommorow....

He even bent the ends of the tailpipes so that they would be the same distance from each end of the bumper...

            Tom...

                LTD...

There is one on E-Bay right now that is all rusted out... what is sad is it was a Los Angeles County Sheriffs office car at one time.. probably one of the last remaining ones.. and the guy has let it rust out everywhere... but he seems to be more interested in the motor than keeping up the body.. what an idiot!!! Tom...

                          Turbo Mufflers....

They are NOT glass packs... Glass packs are illegal in Florida.
They are round turbo mufflers... They have baffles in them... The exhaust guy had a cut away muffler of it to show what is inside them....
These are pretty new.. they were designed just for applications like mine where you have limited space....
Here is a picture of the flowmaster version.....

The car sounds like a mid 90's Mustang.. maybe a little louder when you get on it.... It sounds really nice at idle, when you stand behind the car. Now I have to go tomorrow and get the CFI adjusted... has a little bit of a surge... My mechanic said I would probably have to get it adjusted a little in the timing etc. since I went from single crap mufflers to duals.... And I have to get the kick down for the trans adjusted....

A friend is going to do a short mpeg of the car running sometime this week... His digital camera does both movies and sound.. mine doesn't have sound! When I get it I'll have to find somewhere to host it, then post the link.... Tom...
