    '88 town car trouble codes

my bro the other day had an issue with the smog pump belt the other day that caused a little shitty situation. any way, it dont have the smog belt on and he decided (for some reason) to do a scan. he came up with 3 codes that i never had come up before. these are KOER codes, i think.

    14- PIP was erratic

    94- right secondary air in-operative(thermactor)
    -air system inoperative
-inoperative bank 2 or fuel control circuit failure

    44- air management system inoperative

code 14 and 94 concern me

on that year car, code 94 is for the thermactor system ONLY. so its nothing to worry about.

Code 14 is the important one. replace the ignition pick up and it should run better.
Personally I would recommend a used or reman distributor. Most times the shaft bushing in the distributor wears and causes excessive movement beteen the reluctor wheel and pick up coil, which sets the code 14.

44 an 94 are ignorable. Agree on 14 being important, replace the distributor and the TFI module and he should be good to go. TFI probably isn't absolutely neccesary to replace, but its really easy to do while the distributor is out, so I'd probably keep the old as a spare and install a new one on the new distributor.
