BTW this has been discussed many timesGive a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

Mine is in love with 50w non synthetic. The only time I have seen an advantage in synthetic oil is when it is -25 or lower outside and it ain't plugged in, it will crank a bit faster with synthetic.1990 LTD Crown Vic w/ dead 5.0

Our cars are happy with regular oil, unless they've been getting synthetic all along and then you take it away.
Syn oil will still get 'dirty' but it doesn't break down due to heat quite as quick as petrol oil.
One advantage being that your oil wont 'cook' as fast in an overheating situation... same with synthetic transmission fluid.
If it lubricates better, i dunno. Some folks swear by it... i know of one courrier van with 500,000 miles on the original motor that ran extended interval changed synthetic its whole life, but it was all highway miles....Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Dear Panthers,
I have yet to hear the "why" for synthetic oil. I've 280 on the Boulevard Cruiser (89CP), get 21 mpg (except in Texas), add a qt of 10/40 premium oil every two or three tanks and drive 20K (highway) yearly.

Mobile One 10w30, my car seems to be happy with it and it's all I'll use. I've heard people say it's not worth it, that engines don't do well with the change from traditional, and there's a potential for increased leaks. My car's had none of those problems. The main reason I use synthetic is because I drive pretty much all city miles, and I believe the wear protection is superior.sigpic

Definitely synthetic oil of your choice brand. I ran one oil change with dinosaur oil once, and it was noticeably noisier and ran more roughly. Last two changes I have done have been Pennzoil Platinum Fully Synthetic, which works great, and comes out pretty clean, along with Motorcraft Filters. My next change I am going to use Mobil 1 10W40 full synthetic to see how it works out.

I usually just run some generic 10w-30. Sometimes I'll run high mileage if it's on sale. I'm running a synthetic blend right now and I noticed no difference. If anything it's a hint noisier.2020 F250 - 7.3 4x4 CCSB STX 3.55's - BAKFlip MX4
