    external fuel pump ?s

I have a 86 Vic. The in tank pump is shot, and so is the tank. Its full of rust.

Here is my plan. Pull the motor and computer, clean up a bunch of the wiring, take the emission stuff off(if that's possible without screwing with how it runs) and put the motor in my 74 van. The tank in the van has a return line setup already. So I want to just add a pump on the outside of the frame. Would one with a rate of 43 gph(258 lbs./hr.) at 40 psi be enough? Cuz they have one from summit for a reasonable price.

      sounds a bit low....

Go to summit and compare it to a mustang aftermarket pump....

That's roughtly 160 liters per hour. On a stock 5.0 you should be just fine.

You're going EFI then? I think the trucks had two fuel pumps, one lift pump in the tank and a pressure pump on the frame. Might want to duplicate that, or get the fuel tank setup out of a later van thats already got the pump(s).

yes i want to use the complete efi setup off the 86 Vic in the van.. No matter what i do i will need to buy a fuel pump. I was looking through the summit book and found a universal in line pump.. Just not sure if it will work for me or not.. i really dont want to adapt a two pump system from a pickup or bronco..

here is the pump i was thinking of getting. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-25004/
it shows different specs online than in the book.... max psi is 85 psi...

also is the ECM different from a manual to auto trans? the car is auto the van is manual.

The pump should be ok, if it is mounted lower than the tank. Once the fuel is pulled through the first time it should not ever run dry. As for the ECM from the Vic, it does not care about the trans, as it controls the engine only.
