    talking to a local mechanic

tell me if this sounds right He sead that i could take off the egr plate and bolt my throttle body directly to my plenum. All that he thinks it would do would make the engine light come on. If this is true I could take my lopo egr and have it resiszed while i am still able to drive the car.

what initiated all of this crazy talk is the fact that the local machine shop wanted 90 dollars an hour to have it bored out to accept a HO throttle body.

I figure when smog rolls around i can just put it back on.

The real question though is if the removal of the egr valve will cause weirdness with the computer and make it act adversly.

you guys are always a lot of help.

No... you need the EGR spacer to bolt the throttle linkage up. no throttle linkage, No GO!

find an extra EGR spacer and have it bored, then swap it.
Make sure you get and install the correct gaskets... there are 2, throttle body to EGR spacer, EGR spacer to upper intake.

specify a Mustang or Mark 7 when you request/order the gaskets. verify they are the larger (63mm) size when you get them.

duh I should have known that I was just trying to get around paying so much to have the lopo bored out

one other thing we were talking about is that i should by pass the water going into the egr spacer so that the intake charge would be cooler. In the summers around her it is not uncommon to see 115 degrees an the winters dont go below 75.

cars we have here in Nebraska that we own have the EGR lines bypassed. i just disconnected the lines and connected the one from the steel tube to the back of intake where the hose from the EGR goes. if you have a HO throttlebody, it needs modded if you havent done so since it doesnt just swap over.

well any ways I just went over the the junk yard with said mechanic and he found two explorer 5.0's 450$ a piece this sounds like a steal to me.

and on the way back my car started acting up again seems like it has absolutely no power wants to rev real high and still not go anywhere. he said that there are a million reasons that would cause this but most likely its timing we thought that maybe the pip connector was missing but it was there. The reason I had not noticed it so much was that he is about 300 pounds and it made the car have to try all the harder. I still should have had way more power than it does.

If its revving real high and not moving, i would look into the transmission....

losing throttle pressure in the transmission will do that too
