    Thermostat/Water Temp Guage

I was looking for a place to stick a thermostat for an electric fan and I think I might have found it. My '86 CV has the dual heater core pipes and on one end there's a threaded plug. Can I run a thermostat for an electric fan or a water temp guage off of that?

theres a threaded plug on the end of what, the heater core pipe? Can't say I've ever seen that before, usually the only holes in that are for the ECT, the EGR cooler thing, and the connection to the heater core itself.

i beleive flex-o-lite has a thermostat that has a probe that gets stuck into the radiator near the upper radiator hose.

did someone remove the ect?.....gotta have that for it to run properly.....take pics

if you want to use a wet sensor for the fan, look for a waterneck with threads tapped for a sensor......might have to do some searching, but i've seen them around

I think you can use a neck from a Bronco. Also you maybe able to drill and tap one.

sometimes you can get away with using a t fitting and retaining the ect sensors position as well as adding the fans sensor. if done right it doesnt look bad, done wrong its just ugly.

Sorry guys/glas; crap for memory. There's a sensor plugged into the end of the dual heater pipe. I gotta see if I can find the water temp dummy light and disconnect that to use for the e-fan sensor.

cheapo autozone replacements have threaded bungs for a sensor, it's cheaper for them to make one waterneck with a plug than two different ones

might be a dumb question but do you have a gauge in the car aside from the idiot light? If not don't unhook it. You could put T into the heater line going to the heater and thread it in there.

Perhaps that'll be that route to take. Thanks for the tip!

All of my 351 CVs have had the water necks with extra holes. They are used for some silly sensor, which I removed after the 4bbl swap.
