OK, got the engine fired up last night... some timing issues need to be addressed... And some other minor problems... (Slight leak of coolant around the throttle body ---have to put a new gasket in between the throttle body and the upper plenum... Guess the sealant didn't get to one spot... so it is dripping water / coolant ) And a few other things... pictures later today....

Oh, and I put a 3 row radiator in it... that thing is HUGE! I have to go to the junkyard today and get 2 new top mount / clamps... the ones from the old radiator are too small... I figured if I can find a set off of a truck... The bottom fit pretty well, but the top clamps just don't work right... I also put the thermal style fan clutch in it... it should work better than the one that was in it.... So cooling should never be a problem with the car... We ended up putting 2 gallons of antifreeze in it.. and two more gallons of water!

Make sure the coolant hoses to the EGR spacer are hooked up and not leaking.
there are 2 gaskets .. EGR spacer to upper intake and throttle body to EGR spacer, replace BOTH gaskets.

Yeah.. 3 core radiator upper mounts are longer. not sure the truck mounts will work.

The leak is fixed... here is some pictures....

        before the swap:

        last night, after the swap

check out the size of the new radiator.... shouldn't over heat with that!

I'll have some cleaning and detailing yet to do, like re-doing all of the split loom on the wiring harnesses, cleaning around the edge of the hood... etc... Also touching up some things where we scratched brackets etc. putting it back together... Also a few places I missed with the paint... like around the edge of the coil... realized it when i was going to put the coil back on... but we didn't want to stop to wait for the paint to dry... It took almost 24 hours for the paint to dry on the upper intake... but shouldn't take more than a day to do all of the touch up stuff...

More pictures tommorow, when I can get it out in the sun to take some better pictures...

Is that a common radiator to find listed under Crown Victoria's in the parts store?

Its possible, but its a huge pain in the ass. Its probably less time to yank the lower arms out, swap the mounts, and stuff the lower arms back in than it is to fight with those motor mount bolts. I changed my mounts when I did the front suspension, just couldn't see the point in fighting with it.

The radiator is listed at Advance Auto Parts under a 1986 Crown vic... 3 row... I can get the part number for you... They had to special order it, it came direct from the supplier... The only thing they listed for the 1991 Crown Vic was a 1 row aluminum radiator, this one is brass.... The aluminum ones fall apart from the salt air down here.... they just oxidize away....

If its the same as mine, you need a different upper radiator hose. Application I used for the hose was 85 CV police car with a 351. The inlet on the top of the radiator was smaller on my 3 core than the stock single core.

I've noticed that with all the copper-brass radiators. Why is that?
