Pretty much, going to tune my Edelbrock Performer with no air/fuel ratio gauge or whatnot, just by how it drives and mileage. Right now it runs like crap but I haven't tuned it ever and i'm sure it's been a good 8 months or longer, probably when the cam was swapped in which was like 8-9 months ago.

Another tech tip I picked up from one of the Holley books is to wire the secondary throttles shut when tuning the primary side of your four-barrel. The particular discussion only covered doing it with 4V Holleys, disconnecting the progressive linkage on a double-pumper of course, but I'm thinking it could prove a handy technique with any 4V carb. AFBs and Quadrajets, for example, use a spring-loaded progressive linkage that prevents the secondary throttles from opening while the choke is engaged, and I'm sure that feature could be exploited to turn either one into a 2V temporarily for tuning purposes.
