im mot too sure what you can use but scott or mrltd can help you out with that what id do is do research for carbed mustang 5.0's and see what they run and kinda use that as a comparison id go with something a little hotter than stock comp cams has a really nice selcetion to choose from for instace the cam i will be using is a comp cam XE258 which is slighty more oompy than a stock HO cam but will work quite nicly, im not sure if they make one in non roller form but id go with that if you can

Comp has lots of good nonroller grinds suitable for street use with mild heads. What sort of performance characteristics are you looking for?

You will be disappointed with the performance if you put a big cam in it.

Look for 4x4 truck/RV cams. Or a stock mustang replacement

Mike, what max .050 duration would you usually suggest? I'd forgotten when I made my earlier post that the budget-priced Summit 4400 at 204/214 degrees should work rather well on a street 302.

Yeah, thats fine... But OP was saying a lopey idle. lopey cams and 4000lb cars aren't a good combo. Most cams with a RPM range from idle-5000 are fine.

Big cams are dogs in these car even with low gears in them. Still fun though. I'm not sure I'd go as big as an E cam if I drove it everyday.

I want an E303 in my Mustang. I'd love to give you my HO cam since that's a bigger cam but not too big for your car, but you don't have a roller block.

im not planning on driving it everyday, or even every week........the government wont allow me to drive it more than 5000 miles a year.............

would something like this do me well? i know i dont want over .500 lift, right?

                    are summit cams any good?

Something like what? Guessing there must be a link or part number I'm not seeing ....

torquelover used a SUM-4400 in his/my 351W when he rebuilt it several years ago, and that engine pulled really hard. The specs are identical to Edelbrock's 2122 "Performer Plus" cam; logically, there's the off chance the quality control may not be quite as precise for half the money, but I haven't yet gotten around to having a look at the lobes. This cam is smaller than the 220/220 duration E303, but it's somewhat similar to my 208/216-duration Crane roller in the 302 I've been driving most, which I've been fairly happy with.

Oh, okay. I'd stay a little smaller than that, but I like small cams, and maybe you're planning on spinning your motor over 5000-5500rpm?

Do you have any particular leads for your heads?

ive found a few sets. but havent gotten to check them out yet.

why smaller? im still learning all of this. i was thinking i wanted to get as close to .500 lift without surpassing it.
