    smog block off plate

Do they make plugs or block off plates for the smog tube that goes into the back of the heads? Cause I heard if you do not have the AIR tubes hooked to the cats and the belt for the pump off, it will make your car run bad. So I want to block em off.

or you can pull the AIR tube off, hacksaw off the ends, and bolt them back up, but backwards...

What does putting them on backwards do?

I must have missed something someplace! How would cutting the end off of a tube and then turning it around block off the hole? Wouldn't you still have the hole in the tube end plate? Is the end plate offset that much?

you are assuming the holes are completely centered in the plate...if they are staggered or off centered then turning them backwards would make the holes not align...thus blocking off the flow.

i think he means turning them backwards so that the smooth outside sits against the block

You can buy the blind hole inserts directly from your friendly Ford parts counter or any industrial supply store. You only want to use these thread inserts if the motor is out of the car or the heads are off of the motor. The threads in the head are usually nasty and clogged. You need to use a tap on them before using an insert. I have the Ford part number and a industrial part number for these if someone needs it. I just don't have it in front of me right now.
This is what is used in the front of your heads and the accessory bolts are threaded into.

I just pulled the crossover off, and smashed the part of the tube the valve went on, and cut the valve off.
