    Typically, the metering rod setup is preferable. The problem here is that it's only on the primary side, and the venturi/venturi booster design is rather inefficient. It works okay....but it's not phenomenal.

    The secondary side is where the tuning problems turly arise....the non-adjustable air flap design of the basic Edelbrock is a joke....

        This is annoying. It's like $14 cheaper than the one I just installed:

                    Tom, I'm just harassing you, lol.

                    To be honest with you, a good Duraspark with a MSD Blaster 2F coil would work just fine....if you're going to be swapping in a DSII ignition system. If not, either the Mallory or Crane Hi-6 would work.

                      Yes, I was looking at the Mallory. Cheaper than the MSD, and digital too. Love MSD, but not THAT much lol.

                              Larry, I remember a while back you getting on Dave and Colin about *actual* flow capacity of different BG carbs, specifically the 650cfm Speed Demon. Apparently the regular Road Demon is available in 525, 625, and 725cfm nominal ratings - do you have an estimate of how much each actually flows, size of the bores, and what have you?

                                No, I don't have specifics....the problem is that each carb is slightly different (and I mean slightly), and it's almost impossible sort of flow-bench testing BG carbs to get actual flow numbers without adding a lot of cost to the price of the carb....which is the reason why a Dambest carb costs $750+ (they test their carbs), and BG doesn't, at least until you get into Dominator range.

                                Concerning CFM ratings....it's safe to simply add 75-100 cfm to each of those numbers....

                                525 = 600-625
                                625 = 700-725
                                725 = 800-825

                                ....so there you go.
