Cowtown Cowboy (he's only on CVN, despite our efforts) uses a 4R70W behind his 408 (topped with an 850 Holley).

larrys just having a fit that im not building his motor of choice. god forbid i decide i want to do something like a lightning engine with a better cam and ported heads, and then later on if i really wanted more power id buy a used supercharger off someone on nloc. i assume in larrys mind that everyone on nloc running supercharged 351s is stupid as well, at least in his book. a longrod 351 just wouldnt be my motor of choice, i dont see why its such a big deal, i thought everyone was entitled to opinions but apparently im mistaken

Everyone has their choice of engine. I honestly don't care whether or not you run my choice of motor. The information is there for anyone's use, and I didn't add an 'or else' to the end of it, just because there are differing points of view as to what works well, and what doesn't.
I simply mentioned it, but you gave a completely retarded reason for not wanting to use it (a simple 'thanks!', or 'not interested' would have sufficed, really....like I said, I simply tossed it up there, as it seemed to be a perfect fit for what you were trying to do), which makes me question whether or not you actually have any freaking clue as to how to put a motor together. Couple that with your throwing 'magazine' engine build ideas into the mix....with you having to spend almost tens of thousands of dollars to get such an engine (393 stroker, supercharged) simply to give some vague semblance of hooking up with whatever vehicle you install this monster into....and that's about the point I called 'bullshit', considering most real 393 engine builds create huge traction problems....and that's even with naturally aspirated combos.
However, please continue, it amuses me to watch you type.
I simply think you are a moron, irrespective of anything else that's mentioned.

thanks, i appreciate it . really. thanks for the clarification, as it seemed to me you took offense to all of my posts for some odd reason, but i must be wrong. btw, when i mentioned the 393 supercharged or not and all that it was just a thought, not a realistic one, just an idea, if i had that kind of money. your 351 long rod engine has merit, and maybe at some point in my life i will try it out.
as for the engine thats going to be going into my vic, ive already gathered most of my ideas and know what im going to do with it, thanks to those who helped with the ideas.
and thanks pirate, for the nice little typical insult you threw in at the end, just for the hell of it. every one of your posts amuses me as well.Last edited by 70torino429; 05-14-2009, 05:23 PM.

Let's not forget that this has been in the works for over 2 years now... I picked up a complete Lightning engine, with the accessories, intakes, even the fuel rails and Lighting plaque, for $800 bux in '07. The guy was removing it to install a retardedly powerful 550+ cubic inch monster, and simply wanted the old motor gone from his garage. Not to mention the hours upon hours of research, time and money spent locating parts, and the actual work which I am doing now.
I understand the magazine thing, I have done my share of drooling over the 427 Winsors and twin turbio 383's. I simply cannot afford $10,000+ for just the motor, let alone the money I have already spent getting a carb'd car to be EFI happy, and with a 'big' build I still need the $$$ for a stout tranny to handle it.
Nothing wrong with getting ideas...sigpic
