I unhooked the EGR and it seems better. I plugged it back in and it still seems better, gonna drive with it unplugged for a while and see how it acts. I remember an 80s Vic I had sort of acted like this, was a bad TPS. Will try that next.

If I can't figure it out I will be up Scott.

You can do the jumper wire thing and count the blinks if you'd like. Fordfuelinjection.com has directions for doing it. Might want to pick up a code reader with a display though, its a lot easier.

With EGR unplugged, it still did it this AM.

seems odd, because it only does it at low throttle. half to full throttle is miss free...

          gonna try a TPS next.

thats the same shit mine is doing , i gave up this weekend i took it to the shop, i cant just keep dumping unnessary money into the merc, and refinishing a house. ive already done plugs, wires, cap and rotor, ing module, coil, injectors, fuel regulator, fuel filter, tps, egr sensor ,iac, water temp sensor, checked the fuel pressure and its where it belongs. so i give up and i dont really have the extra time to mess with it. i'll keep you posted on what the verdict is !!!

Indeed, there is a random funky hitch at lower cruise speeds in overdrive that a lot of lopos have. My car even does it, and there is nothing under the hood that is lopo in origin. I suspect its just a Ford EEC thing.

That's not my issue. Is a significant stumble and miss. idles smooth, a slight increase in throttle causes a stumble and miss.

                      OK, replaced the TPS.

90% of my idle/drive issues are resolved. It runs great once warmed up.

When cold in the AM, it hesitates and misses a small bit. Gonna assume a basic tune up will fix that, possibly the EGR position sensor.

My city MPG went from 11.8 to 15.9.

Oh man that sucks. Hate to hear that

My 88 Merc had an hesitation in Over drive like the other guys have said. I guess it's common. Strange thing is that my Mercury only had 140K miles, and the 86 Crown Vic I got doesnt have a hesitation and I belive its 180K miles. I don't know.

would it make sense to bump the timing a tick to see if that affected it?
