A few pics of my 3g install

Well lets start off by saying, this is one of the best mods i have done to my car. Im very happy with the results. The install was super easy I used the harness and charge cable kit from http://www.rjminjectiontech.com/ its a great product and makes it a breeze to install. The only trouble i had which is no big deal if you have access to a cut off wheel. I had to cut out a peice of the lower bracket to get full range off motion on the upper bracket. This way i could still use the stock belt. No biggy 5 min cut and its good to go. Anyway heres the pics

And a shot of the engine cause i cleaned it up and bit haha

Let me know what you all think.

where's your radiator fan?? 3G looks good in there. I need to go on and install the one Ive got in the basement... it will let me clean up some more wiring too. Just gotta figure out what to do for a charge cable...

Buy a long cable that's intended for batteries, cut the ends off and put on cable lugs with a bench vise to crimp them down. Then use the 175 amp fuses that you find on a Taurus. You can buy those fuses at several parts stores that I know of.

The bench vise isn't the correct tool to crimp those. You really need the proper crimp tool for that. Its a fairly simple thing, just stick the cable in there and wail on the crimp tool with a hammer to get the proper indent to secure the cable. Smooshing the lug in a vise doesn't prevent the cable from eventually pulling out. I did that on my boat, it needs all new battery ends because the cables keep pulling loose.

The fan is a pusher fan on the front of the radiator. You can see it a lil bit in the second picture.

I didn't know that. Thanks. So far I haven't had any problems, but I will remember that.

So what cars came w/ that alternator? I have seen some threads talking about Tauruses, some Mustangs, just wondered if anyone had a concise list.

3.8 has the large case 3G. 3.0 Tauruses will work as well.

I got mine from a 98 3.8 mustang and it was a small frame. I think ford just put them on whatever the hell they wanted haha.

Maybe it was different from the Tauruses. The Tauruses had either size case depending on the motor.

I've actually seen big case ones on 3.0 tauruses... I want to say just the older ones.

Also I saw that the older 3.0 explorers/rangers also have 3G's... I want to say they are small cases. I was digging the charge wire out of one, since it has two fuse links in parallel and looks long enough to reach my fusebox.
