The Sweet Smell of Gasoline...

I usually like the smell of gasoline...except when it fills the cabin of my car and is so potent that it makes me feel lightheaded.

Recently here when I fire up the Marquis, there's no smell or nothing outside, but inside there's a strong smell of gasoline. I've gotta open the windowns to air it out, and if I shut the windows it doesn't take long for it to come back to some degree.

Any ideas?

Check the vapor return lines too, but I'd also bet on blown fuel line, probably under the driver's side A pillar. Are you seeing any puddles on the ground?

No puddles that I have found. Gasoline smell is only inside and comes and goes. No drips or anything that I can see either.

I would say fuel lines, especially if you haven't changed them since you have owned the car. We just did the brake lines last summer because they rotted away and the fuel lines aren't too far behind. See what mrltd can find, but I'd be willing to bet that it's the fuel lines.

BTW, gasoline hasn't smelled good in over twenty years. I remember it smelling better when I was a kid. Now race fuel and nitro.

I agree with packman on the fuel smell. but nitro smells nasty, burns the nose too much. i still LOVE the smell of leaded gas. such a sweet aroma, and the sound of the cars that ran on it......
