ok so that means that its ok for it to be a little below stock timing or does that mean something else is off?

your balancer may have spun putting the timing marks off

Yes its fine to have the timing retarded to under 10*. It may make it a little sluggish but thats better than pinging. Mine was at 8* when i checked it before i set the timing and it was runing fine.

When you connect the spout connector, the timing will advance. Its normal.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
