    ok so that means that its ok for it to be a little below stock timing or does that mean something else is off?

      your balancer may have spun putting the timing marks off

      1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

        oh well whatever it is, i guess i fixed it.it wasn't right on 10*,it was a little bit lower, but the car is running fine with it like that.it'l just have to stay this way until i can figure out what the real problem is

          Yes its fine to have the timing retarded to under 10*. It may make it a little sluggish but thats better than pinging. Mine was at 8* when i checked it before i set the timing and it was runing fine.

            When you connect the spout connector, the timing will advance. Its normal.

              yea mine is set around 8*no rattle and it seeps peppier than it was.ill just have to figure out why it doesn't like 10*
