got my fuel pump and sending unit changed

    Well, the fuel gauges work depending on resistance, if I'm not mistaken. If you reversed the leads for the gauge, when the tank is below half a tank, the fuel gauge will read higher than half. If it reads over a half a tank when the leads are reversed, then I'd be willing to be it's the sender.


    But you're saying that the fuel gauge won't move until it's got a half of a tank left. Which is leading me to believe that it's the gauge. So you could try reversing the leads and see what happens.

    Check with someone else on here where you can safely reverse those leads.

      sounds like a bad sending unit... if possible, have them remove sending unit from tank and move the arm to see how gauge works while being wired up
