    Cold air makes more hp

The best the racecar has ever gone was in the spring of last year, 8.68 in the 1/8mi, 13.82 in the 1/4.
Due to a low car count and the economy, all racing went to 1/8mi mid season last year, so all times must be converted to 1/4mi equivalents.

During the off season down time, swapped intakes. Took off the dual plane STEALTH that was on the car forever and installed a slightly modded AIR GAP.

Friday night last week, temp in the high 30s
    1st T&T 1.907- 60'
    5.556-330'
    8.628 at 77.94mph

    2nd T&T 1.856- 60'
    5.485- 330'
    8.604 at 78.15mph

    Rd 1-dialed 8.60
Had to spot the stang in the other lane, she went red, ran it all out 8.604

Rd 2- left the 8.60 dial in, really fast car in the other lane, lifted and stabbed brakes, 8.594 at 76mph for a break out loss.
Stoked at the quickest ever times

    This past Sat. same temps

    1st T&T- 8.654 at 78.54mph

    2nd T&T- 1.896 60'
    5.512 330'
    8.618 at 78.56

Remembered last Fri., so dialed 8.59
Rd 1, she went red, ran it out, 8.570 at 79.38mph!!!!!

Rd 2, spun on the wet track even after frying the tires, 8.68 on an 8.56 dial in.

    8.62 in the 1/8~= 13.65 1/4
    8.48 in the 1/8~= 13.48 1/4

So should have run in the vicinity of high 13.50s in 1/4.

Speed cost....how fast u wanna go??

It's not how much hp u have...
It's how much hp u can put to the track...

Let's seperate the men from the boys and put that power to the track using street tires and stock suspension components

Yes, and knife edged. Also the carb pad and runners have been gasket matched.

Have a Vic. Jr I want to try, but the throttle cable and pedal must be replaced.

What throttle cable are you running? And why would the pedal have to be changed as well?

                  Air Gap

"hw much of the divider did you remove? any effect on drivability?"
Bought it with the divider ground down another ~1/2" and knife edged. Had to gasket match the carb pad and intake runners.
Slight hesitation just off idle, but that may be in the carb.

"What throttle cable are you running?"
Currently using the factory throttle cable and triangle shaped bracket with offset bolt holes. It bolted to the factory cast iron intake, the Stang aluminum, the Stealth in the stock location. The Air Gap has the holes aligned straight instead of offset, so had to brace the throttle. It wanted to move at WOT.
The Vic Jr has no provision for a throttle bracket.

"And why would the pedal have to be changed as well?"
The local speed shop carries Lokar stuff and it is designed to use their pedal assy. The end that attaches to the pedal has the wrong connection and will not hook up to the factory pedal.
Want to use a throttle cable assy similar to what is used on dragsters that bolts to the carb base.

Last nite the car went 2-8.62s in a row, so it looks like the Air Gap intake is good for ~3/10s in the 1/4.
May not be a good street intake in cold areas as it has no heat riser.

                  8.62 ~= to 13.65
Previous best was 8.68/13.82 with the dual plane Stealth.

I can see where that'd have its advantages over swapping cable ends to work with the stock gas pedal. Though, I had worse issues at the firewall myself (arms too short to reach both sides at once!). Will the Lokar pedal be easy to install?
