Okay. I received the intake and it is a little bit more narrow than the stock lopo. I just have to find out where it will sit in relation to the centerline of the hood. Oh, the intake is reversible, so it can be turned around for our cars.

I've gotten a little lost. Which intake is this?

Nah, 75mm. I was told that the R-Series comes in 75mm and that the box R-Series is the 90mm unit. Plus I gotta keep my EGR for emmissions; even though I am negating that by stepping up to a larger engine. We'll see how that flys when the time comes.

Oh, no EGR with the 90mm version?

I would have to bore out the EGR plate and reroute the passages if that is possible. I imagine when people are using this on their Mustangs and Lightnings, they are throwing the emissions out of the window. Also, I am trying to get in contact with custom cam grinders to see what they suggest. I'm probably not the only person trying to build an emissions compliant (to a limited extent) EFI 351W.

For those who made the change from the 5.0L to the 5.8L, how did you swap the brackets over? Is there a kit to use the 5.0L brackets or do you use what came with the donor engine?

Just use the Panther 5.8 AC bracket. What year car is this??? There was an early and late bracket because of a change in the AC pumps.

Why not use the Explorer (94+ 351W) cam or the HO Mustang cam??

My BIL is able to get 13-15MPG highway with a 1995 Bronco. They were rated 11 city and 16 highway when new. A panther with the same cam should be able to do better than 16 highway.

It's a '96 5.8L (F4TE) going into an '86 Crown Vic. I don't need AC because somebody ripped it out before we got the car So if that's the issue, I can just use the brackets that came with my engine and just swap over the 3g alt?

I figure that instead of guessing what will run good with my engine combo, I would get somebody who knows (or at least think he/she knows) how to build cams and how they will perform in a given vehicle.

                          What heads are you using???

According to Deuce only the AC brackets are different.. I have acquired a set of both early and late AC brackets in anticipation for an eventual swap. Mine are actually factory stamped 5.8.

Perfect is the enemy of good enough. The money you save by using a factory cam can be better spent elsewhere on your combo. The HO cam has been used in 400HP engines. The Explorer/F150 cam was used in vehicles heavier than yours for 5.0 and 5.8 engines.

TFS Twisted Wedge 185 or 205. I will see when I check a cam grinder. Anything has to be better than the E7's that are currently resting on that engine.
