Tommorow doing a complete tuneup on the '84... Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc... Also flushing and cleaning the radiator out, and a new air cleaner.
Friday going back to the shop for new "U" joints... and to have the Transmission cross member changed out to the "double hump" cross member.... When i drove it over the other day for the brakes, i noticed the "U" joints were REALLY loose... probably the originals... Not good when the car chirps the tires when you get on it.... shifting from 1st to 2nd... I thought the driveshaft was going to fall out the other day.... Somce firends of mine wanted me to "get on it" to see how it runs.... The "U" joints "clanged" pretty bad when it shifted... and chirped the tires and went sideways.... Gotta remember not to do that too much!!!
The CFI is actually pretty much right on the money as far as performance... There is a retired FHP officer here in town that owns a place called "Mustang World".. It is where i got the "H" pipe and some other fox body stuff.... he "tweaked " the CFI when Tommy, the last owner had it... So he got it running really good on it... I may just leave it in place for a while, and see how it goes... until I can get the carb switched over....
Only problem right now is the ignition breaking down.... (AND no A/C!!)
I decided to put the "H" pipe on the stock manifolds for now... NO ONE around here wants to mess with changing the manifolds out for the headers... or they want big bucks to do them.... (And I don't have the shop to do them...) Guess they are afraid they will break a stud... and end up with a long involved job....
I'm going to go with a Buick Gran National "double in double out" muffler... Until I get the Carb setup put on the car.... At which time I will do away with the second fuel pump, and go with true duals... (The second fuel pump is under the car on that side where the muffler needs to go)
Here is what it will look like.. except mine will go into the double muffler...
instead of the "Y" like in this picture... (Fairmont Kevins Car)
The red circle is where the fuel pump is.... So you can see why I have to go with the double muffler....
