...in a rear-sump dipstick setup? The dipstick goes into the rear sump area of the newer rear-sump oil pan 302's....right through the driver's side of the block....therefore the suction tube would go right into....the rear sump.

I misspoke. I change my oil all the time with one of those oil suckers and it gets it only out of the rear part of the pan, and that's what I meant to say. I should have said that it wouldn't get the oil out of the front part of the pan.
