    interesting finds in a tune up

    ok guys i replaced a couple of things on my car yeaterday as a repair/tune up spree i did. The first was sparkplug wires dated 1987 from motorcraft the second was the two belts both dated 1986 the fuel filter from 1986 and the muffler from 1986. this car is from massachussetts originally so; how do you spell cherry.

      Not surprising, people don't change that stuff unless it falls off. I bet you have Motorcraft hoses from 1986 under the hood too, as well as an original radiator cap and probably original coolant. I'd be seriously looking at doing a cooling system flush unless you know it has been done. The PCV system should be serviced too, thats another item that is almost never touched.

        thats right original hoses i did however have the system flushed and pressure checked and i did go over the pcv system and replaced the valve

          replace the hoses before it leaks and you overheat it and kill the engine

          1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

            Did you replace the screen and grommet with the valve? Those are usually the parts that are the problem, the valves themselves seldom are an issue.
