fuel cut off? as in a inertia switch? then no i dont. im hooking a damn fuel guage to it tomorrow reguardless of what my boss says. even though it looks like shit i still gotta get it running good so i dont get stranded somewhere lol. if not the fuel pump causing the problem...then im going after the duraspark module.

I already explained what the springs are for, and your manual explains it better than I did.
If you end up getting a new car, that's the ideal excuse to pull this motor apart and give it a freshen-up and better heads!2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

wellll what thee hell lol. i started the vic up today and it ran shitty of course....wouldnt even come up to fast idle when it was on choke and it was missing even at idle so i drove it down the block and back to see if it would clear up....it didnt of course so i went back home and just wanted to see if the choke was opening all the way and so i put my hand on the distributor to lean far enough to take the air filter off. but before i even touched the distributor i saw a big blue arc jump to my hand which left a nice little black mark and made my arm throb for a minute or two lol. i got a new set of plug wires, threw em on, and now, the bitch is back lol. after all the carb adjustments with the calibration kit, and with the new plug wires totally fixing the backfire at high rpm/nasty miss/studder, it runs damn good again. but yes of course....the body looks like total shit lol. still gunna try my luck with a come along.

Concerning the degraded condition....I've been zapped by several vehicles with shoddy plug wires.

the plug wires were the cheapest Xact wires from advanced. i guess they went bad so quickly(within 6 months) because of my thermostat going bad over the summer. the housing of the thermostat itself was cracked....which let the engine get really freakin hot all the time which must have done some damage to the wires...cuz when it was getting that warm it wouldnt overheat....just get really effing hot....i wouldnt even be able to hold my face under the hood for just a few seconds without feeling i was in a bonfire. and plus theyre just shitty plug wires...i cant afford no $80 taylor or MSD plug wires. i had checked them before all the carb tuning and i didnt get a shock....but it wasnt missing at idle at the time so i didnt think to hard about the wires being the problem untill it was missing at idle and i did get shocked while checking the carb lol. and yeah....i got a huge ass oak tree i was gunna anchor the come along to and somehow wrap the straps around or through the quarter panel. idk what its gunna do though....its just more of a learning experience now. i had all of christmas break to try the come along but just never got around to it so ill let yall know when i try some stuff out. but right now i gotta finish replacing the water pump/scraping the A/C and the air pump and all its b.s., then she'll be in perfect working order...other than it looking like a damn demo derby car lol.
btw....anyone need the compressor or the compressor bracket or any of that shit?Last edited by 91_351police-special; 12-28-2008, 01:12 AM.

91p, nothing wrong with $40 Taylor Spiro-Pros or similar, no need to spend $80 on a set of plug wires if you don't want to. Even a $20 set really ought to do the trick in a pinch ... hope your overheating episodes didn't damage anything else!2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!
