There is a ground wire that goes with the O2 sensor wiring, it's black, make sure that is bolted on the engine. I found that wire after I got the other engine in Vicky, and reattached it. See if you get the code then.

I had a code 42 (same code as you but rich instead of lean). Car was bucking during warming up. Replaced the O2's and the code disappeared and the car ran fine.

thats your mistake right there... you cant "make" O2 sensor wires - they use special shielded wires...

The O2 wires are not shielded. They're just 3 wires with that high temperature cloth sheath around them. . You do have to make sure to get them in the proper position though.

                    They aren't shielded??
My A/F ratio gauge installation instructions made it sound like all O2 sensor wires are shielded, which is why they said not the tap into the O2 wire itself, but the wiring just past the connector, otherwise it would be a bad thing. Oh well...

so now i have another battle, to save me some time and what not, i told the guy working on my car(remeber is to be a mustang guru) that it would be convinient to put an mustang AOD trand govener in my tranny. right of the bat i was told that it is unnesassary to so so, he will jus tighten the throttle linkage. shit, now i regret telling him that, cuz now will do so and i will be screwed when i go to put the govener in...

                        Okay, that's it.

Get your car out of this retard's shop. You don't 'tighten the linkage' to get it to shift higher, as it raises TV pressure in the AOD, which does indeed raise shift rpm, but screws up the way the transmission behaves, when you do that. The linkage is merely there to adjust throttle valve pressure (it has to stay within parameter), not for some moron to adjust shift points.

I don't know what to tell you concerning finding another mechanic, but this mechanical half-wit doesn't need to be within a thousand feet of and of your cars, because he doesn't know shit about Fords. He's given you a dozen red flags about his lack of repair ability, and yet the car is still there? Is this a 'Canadian' thing?

i will, told the guy to fuck off with touching that stuff, just waiting to get my emmisions paper and i can bring the car to work and use the shop to do what i have to do to complete my HO swap. right now i only need to get the govener and speedo gear done. this would never happen if i had the time and place in the summer lol. this is the first time i ever left my car to a "mechanic" and will be the last.
