    Alternator pulley lingo???

Please explain what they mean by the "rib" and "groove" and stuff. I have a pulley with 5 peaks and 6 grooves on my old alt. Im doing a 3g conversion. Is that the correct way to refer to the types of pulleys?? see pic below.
    thanks

Stock uses a 6 rib belt so you want a 6 rib pulley. The pulley would have 6 low spots

Ok, so its the low spots are what matter. See I was counting 5 peaks and 6 low spots, so I didnt know what to ask for, a 5 or 6 rib pulley. Thanks for explaining it bro.

The low spots on the pulley are what matter. When they count ribs, they're counting the raised spots on the belt. A belt with six ribs will correspond to a pulley that has six troughs to accept the six ribs.
