Cover the alternator with a trash bag or something.

The PCV valve is at the back of the lower intake, and there is a metal screen under it. The screen is purchased seperate from the valve, and is probably in the system as a PCV filter or breather filter or something like that.

yup thats what my drivers side is doing.just after 800 miles of stop and go traffic i need to put a quart in(no smoke, just a smell). i have a 3/8 intake spacer,so i think i can take it off w/o taking the intake off.juggling the gaskets and intake is hard as hell with one person! lol

dunno, I've got an intake spacer, no way i can get my valve covers out. They're slightly taller than stock, but there isn't much room in there. By the time you fight the cover out, you could likely just pop the upper intake loose and do the job.

Finally got a chance to get under the hood yesterday - with a cool/cold engine! - to see about maybe tightening the valve cover bolts.... I can't even SEE the right side cover! Now I know why the intake needs to be removed to do anything.

I did manage to see that there is/was a leak as there is black residue in the "lip" of the cover. Still need to get to cleaning the thing when I get some time.

Should see part of it otherwise you couldn't put oil in it :p The engines after a while like to get crusty with all kinds of crud. I would clean the engine compartment with engine degreaser. It's nice to touch stuff under the hood without turning your hand black
