    EGR Eliminator Plate Question

Hello all! Been a little while. I got the 302 out of the wagon and am SLOWLY rebuilding it. Got a 6 month old and another on the way, so the going is slow, and the budget is tight.

Onto the question! I picked up an HO upper (and lower intake). The upper intake did not come with an EGR spacer plate. Originally I was gonna re-use the original one, but diameter is much smaller, so no go. Looks to me like I have 2 options.
    1. Source an HO EGR spacer plate (anybody happen to have one of these laying around?
    2. EGR Eliminator Plate such as: http://www.accufabracing.com/throttle_bodies.htm#EGR (the second one without the water passages).

I realize that with the EGR eliminator plate i'll also need the jumper to fool the computer into thinking the EGR is there and permenently in the closed position.

I'm at work right now so please forgive my questions but I'd like to get something figured out today.

Question 1: Will my throttle cable bracket bolt up to the EGR eliminator plate? I thought my bracket bolted in perpendicular to the EGR spacer and every eliminator plate i find shows bolt holes parallel to the EGR spacer. Maybe my mind is just going...

Question 2: Anybody know what diameter I should run for a factory HO throttle body and upper intake?

Question 3: (not critical, but while i'm here) Bolt size required to thread into the upper intake and hold on the throttle body and EGR spacer?

Feel free to provide additional suggestions on how to get this sucker together reliably and cheaply and still have provisions for mounting my throttle cables. Thanks!

1: No, your bracketry will not bolt up to that plate.
2: 60mm is the stock throttle body and upper intake opening size.
    3: Don't know.

What you need to do is take your stock EGR spacer and have it bored out at a machine shop. Lots of guys here do it. They can safely go to 63mm. There may be a few available here on the board- check with Scott (lincolnmania) and also make a post in the Want To Buy section.

It's way too much of a pain in the ass to adapt everything to fit a Mustang EGR spacer or eliminator and you'll end up spending just as much to get it to fit, then spend it again when you give up and have a stock spacer bored out.

The other option would be to find a Lightning EGR spacer, but those are rare.

thanks for the reply. i can not get the factory EGR spacer off. EVERYTHING is corroded and welded together. i broke 2 screwdrivers just trying to get the throttle body off, there isn't any way that egr spacer is coming off without breaking it.

which leaves making my throttle bracket fit on the mustang delete plate or buying another EGR spacer, and paying somebody to bore it out. my instinct is that it'll cost more for me to buy a used EGR spacer and pay a machine shop to bore it out than the delete plate will cost me.... plus some of my time to make my own throttle cable bracket...

also thinking about just making my own delete plate...

hey thanks for everyone's help! exactly why i posted this question to get some input. after some SERIOUS frustration last night with a hammer and 3 different screwdrivers (and penetrating oil) i managed to get the original EGR spacer off. holy hell was that thing on there. my arm is sore from swinging the hammer so much.

prior to posting up i'd never considered boring the original spacer, but i'll drop it off this week at the machine shop. another month or so and hopefully i'll have some picture of installed and running down the road. i'm looking at 60mm yes / no? tape measurement isn't that accurate and mis-placed my calipers for the time being.

60mm is what you want, yes. You are planning to install a HO throttle body too, yes?

You're going to need to take the throttle lever off your stock throttle body and switch it to the Mustang throttle body. It requires a bit of grinding at the bottom of it then some effort to pry it off the shaft, but with a little concentration it can be done in about five minutes. I always weld mine back on; not sure how the others do it... but you'll need to switch that lever for the Mustang throttle body to work.

Go to the junkyard and grab another EGR Spacer, and get it bored out to 60mm Or whatever is preferred here on this site.

you'd want to match the bore size of the HO throttle body. The plate is 60mm, but the body itself is closer to 62-63mm.
