Those problems can often be traced to people running "calibrated" meters and the like. Though sometimes, not.... (and these components are not always problematic).
My TFS #1 would start, idle and run perfectly with the 19's and stock MAF in. With the 30's and the Pro-M.... It made more power, but had a bit of an attitude problem that took some tinkering to get worked out.
You screw with the parameters or feedback system components and the ECM will obviously have a hard time dealing with things.
And the LACK of vacuum is exactly what I said :
when I was inferring that an camshaft that caused the engine to pull inadequate vacuum was installed, that a mass airflow setup would handle that change better.
