Hi Guys, it's been a while!
First off I'd like to thank the many that contributed masses of information on the 3G alternator swap. I've just purchased a brand new 3G 200Amp and put it on my 88 gm. I no longer use the shabby factory output wires and installed my own 4 gauge wires from the alt to the 12v terminal on the starter solenoid and from the ground bolt on the alternator casing to the fender.
Man what a difference! My GM is now charging at 14.5v at idle. Even with all the accessories on like the air, lights, defroster, amp, it doesn't drop below 13.8v.
Once again guys thanks for the info and finally my advice to anyone thinking about doing a 3G swap, don't think about it DO IT!!! the results are astonishing and all told the swap from start to finish, including my 4 gauge wires took me about an hour!
Regards
Danny
