    Floorboarded Brakes, Yikes!

OK fellas, i know this isn't a new one, but with the car off
or the engine running the brake pedal goes all the way to
the floor, just about, without a problem. When driving I
have to put it at the same spot, almost floored, to get
the car to stop. What do I check? I know bleed the brakes
is going to be #1 answer, but do I bleed them with the car
on or off, and also, if that doesn't work, is it new brake booster
or master cylinder time, although I was told the master cylinder
was changed before I bought the car. Also, the car sat for a looooong time without being started or driven after the carb swap, had to work
out some kinks with timing and such. When I say long, we're talking
7+ mos. or so. Thanks fellas.

are you loosing brake fluid? if so check you calipers, wheel cylinders and brake lines for leaks.

if you are not loosing fluid most likely your master cylinder is bad. my car is doing the same thing cause i need to replace the master cylinder.

and a car sitting is harder on parts than driving it.

Bleed it with the car off.

I'd also be concerned about leaks or failed brake lines. Its very common on these to blow a rear brake line.
