HO headers on!!!!

The shitty ass stock manifolds. And yes, I should be ashamed of myself for having a Fram filter on GL, but I got a nice Motorcraft filter begging to be put on. Plus I've never had problems with the Fram filters.


Too naked without something bolted there. All the manifold bolts were loose. I could unscrew them with my fingers. I'm surprised they didn't leak at all.


One down, one to go. The bolts I used I bought from summit racing, they have 3/8" heads. They work pretty good.


All done! GL is a little louder on acceleration, and I haven't had a chance to see what kind of performance gains they have made yet.

shweeet. what are you using for downpipes to the h pipe?

Looks good. Makes me want to get my HO headers and H-pipe on, but there's so much junk in the way (smog equipment, etc.) and I don't want to go breaking any bolts off in the heads.

I don't have the H pipe as of yet, don't have enough $$$. I used the downpipes from teh stock manifolds. They require a little modification, but they will work with HO headers. The paint I got from Wal-Mart, it's this 1500 degree stuff. I can't remember what it's called. The spray can says it is black, but it looks brown to me lol.

Okay, so everyone knows that the studs on the HO headers are spaced wider than the studs on the stock manifolds, so the other end of the clamp for the stock downpipes wont work. All you have to do, is cut out one of the holes on the clamp, to make it a slot. Then teh clamp will slip over the studs on the HO headers, and there ya go. I don't know if it's actually called a clamp or what, I really don't know, but you get what I am saying.

When I put mine on I used a POR-15 product called Black Velvet that I had sitting around from a previous project. Worked fine, but they turned a slightly ashy grey color once it got hot. Sticks on there just fine tho.

Did you by chance take pics of the flanges before you bolted it up? And did it leak afterwards?

What year are the HO headers off of, or are they aftermarket? What is the exit diameter? I know that mine are 2-1/5", and to use the stock downpipes I also had to add more flange diameter to the downpipes. I'll post some pics of what I'm talking about tonight, since they aren't on my car anymore.

I didn't get any pics of the flanges unfortunately. I have no idea what year these headers are. I will have to talk to scott about that, he sent them to me. The flanges fit pretty good on teh ends of the headers.

The paint I used is Dupli-Color High Heat Ceramic paint. It is good up to 1200 degrees. When I first started up GL, the headers smoked pretty good, must have been burning off the excess paint or something. They are also starting to turn grey.

Thats sweet i have the same headers i got them off a mustang in a junkyard.. I found them un bolt just sittin there i they only charged me $20 for both. I just havent had time to get them put on and i thought i would have to have a h pipe as well as what did you do with ur O2 senseor?
