      untill it leaks out... so it depends how bad your leak is.

        Well, since it shouldn't leak, it ought to last indefinitely. Since this is the real world, I would not expect to recharge it more than once a year. If its leaking more than that, you have bigger problems that need to be fixed.

        You also have to be careful about doing an oil+refrigerant charge. The refrigerant leaks out a lot more than the oil. If you keep charging it with more oil, eventually you get a lot more in the system than should be in there. I'd strongly consider a full AC rebuild with a system flush. That way you'll have all new seals and know exactly how much oil is in there.

          He did. I'm quite sure I didn't get robbed. I got several quotes and this guy wanted $795 plus tax (which in the great state of Washington comes to $860). The other places quoted me anywhere from $995 to $1300. This was two little guys doing a radiator and a/c service place from what was probably just a gas station 30-40 years ago. Anyway, they were very fast and very good and I will definitely go back there if the need arises. The place was A&B radiator on 4th Plain Rd. in Vancouver, WA.
