    PCV Screen

I got all of the parts to replace the PCV assembly; however, I can't seem to get the old PCV screen (element) out of the hole in the back of the lower manifold. I tried to grab it with some needle nose plyers, but it seems to be jammed in there. You guys know how to do this or any tricks?

Just did this myself. Screw a long, fat wood screw real far down into the screen, then fasten some vice grips around the top of the screw and pull. This will probably destroy the screen, but you may as well replace it; it's a six dollar part and you'll just waste time and carb cleaner trying to clean the old one.

Thanks guys I am about to go to the hardware store to get some hardened allen head bolts and studs for the valve covers; this way I can really tighten the crap outta them and reduce the amount of times that I have to go under the intake to retighten them.

I tapped a screw into the screen and tugged with all of my strength to no avail. Even my dad couldn't get the darn thing to budge. It's just going to have to stay in there until the end. Nothing short of taking the lower intake will get that thing to come out.

Lots of carb cleaner to dissolve the crap holding it in will help. Do it around the time of an oil change though...

You don't want to tighten the VC bolts too much, it will cause leaks. Snug em and they should be good.

Can someone post a picture of where the PCV valve is located I haven't a clue.

                  Thanks

look down the centerline of the engine, right where the upper intake bolts to the lower intake and follow it to the rear of the engine right on the middle of the lower intake. you'll find a 3/8" hose attatched to it. just yank and the valve should come out. the screen is under the valve and grommet.

Anyone who hasn't, or is not sure if it has been replaced in the last 2-3 years, should go ahead and replace the PCV Screen.

If you haven't most likely your crankcase pressure is gonna be pretty high, and will be forcing oil out through the TB vent tube in the filler neck, causing the Upper Intake to always be full of oil. This was the case with mine awhile back, and has now stopped.

If you replace the valve, try and make sure you get one with the nipple for the hose oriented the same way as the one you're replacing. Some of them are at a 90* angle from the valve and the OEM style is just straight up and down. If you get the 90* one, you have to modify the hose, or in my case, run a new hose altogether, which can be a PITA.

You want one that looks like this:

rather than one that looks like this:

They'll both fit, but the first one is easier, because the hose is pre-bent for it.

Yep, I got the correct one. Had to plug up the extra Bung in the bottom of the HO Upper though.
