Its a plastic thing that sticks out the front of the air box. Give it a good yank and it will pop out, leaving you with a somewhat larger air inlet opening. I'm not going to claim it helps much, but it sure can't hurt.

Ahhh....okay. Yeah I had a 2002 ford ranger that had one of those on it's airbox. "Had" being the key word. I pulled it off and replaced it with a plumbing quik-connect that went from 3" out to 4". Basically like putting a velosity stack on your airbox opening.

I'm debating extending mine out past the rad support on the Towncar. Not sure it will have any benifit, but if I can easily do it with some cheap plumbing parts, I might give it a go. Can't hurt anything.

Who knows? It may actually help a tiny bit considering the enormous gap between the actual air box and the front of the car.

Hmmmmm.......oh well, I tried. I got the CAI in yesterday afternoon. No difference in performance. It seems to be quiet though. Usually I hear a sucking noise from CAIs and open air filters on carb'd vehicles, but I hear nothing from this one. I ended up cutting a 13-1/2" section of PVC (3" ID) that runs off of the elbow to the air filter. The air filter is mounted right behind the coolant reservoir. I'm going to Lowes or Home Depot today to get a bracket to secure the mid section.

Unnhhh........it does make noise. I just needed to tighten the exhaust cap a little bit (the stock caps don't tighten all the way) and the exhaust leak made way for the CAI noise. Upon cold start it makes a supercharger whistling noise for a few minutes before it disapates to a lower whistle. Kinda cool sounding, but it will get old I guess. I got a copper plated PVC bracket from Home Depot this morning. It looks like an exhaust hanger, but twisted. I had to twist it back straight and bolted it to the air cleaner bracket. Then I ran an aviation clamp through it to brace the PVC pipe against the bracket. It's still a little bit more loose than I would like it, but it doesn't rub the stock intake bracket anymore. This is temporary until I can come up with something cleaner and better.
