Looks like a regular magnetic pickup dizzy to me... I dont see enough parts in the dizzy to make me think its a "ready to run" dizzy with internal control. In that case I think you're gonna need to run a ignition control box.
You got a part # for it?

Well, guess what: you get to buy a MSD 6A box.
There are two types of basic MSD distributors: Those requiring the box, and those that can be ran without one. I am of course staying away from crank triggers and belt-drive setups...
Oddly enough, by the time you buy the basic non-box distributor, or the regular distributor and the box, you only spend about another $20 for the box setup.
But at any rate, I would buy a brand-new MSD 6A as they are not exactly all that reliable (my opinion, of course), with used units being a toss-up as to how reliable they are going to be.....

no i know this needs a coil but does anyone know what the wires need to hook to---1990 Lincon LSC., 5.0 H.O., 55,000 ORIG. miles, 3:73 Posi, Bullit rims, 3G alt., 2.5" full-back exhaust, Mark 8 elec. fan, Flowmaster mufflers. My DD

those wires are you pick up, they tell the ignition box what location the rotor is in. they would attach to an ignition box, such as the MSD, you MIGHT be able to hook it up to a durespark box, but i dont know how you would do thathttp://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

red and blue wires will connect to the MSD or other box you buy with the magnetic pickup wires. Coil will connect to the Control box.
I really want to try one of the Summit brand igntion controls. Its a rebranded Mallory Hyfire box which I hear are pretty decent. Better than the MSD.

Thats the ignition pickup output, goes to some sort of ignition module. MSD box, Duraspark box, GM HEI module, Chrysler module, whatever. Also, you know that you can't use this distributor on a 5.0 CFI car.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
