    What Belt?

Ok I de-smogged my wagon last fall and have not worried about not having a belt running the a/c as I didnt need it, but now it is getting warmer and want to get it going again. What belt do I need for a car that has no smog pump at all?

I never had been able to make the short belt fit. I have found the later model belt tensioner, as well as the replacement tensioner pulley are larger, making it impossible to make the short belt fit.

I have found a 5 rib belt from the parts store that fits, but recently discovered the belt on the car has stretched and rubbing together once its tightened properly.

I have taken the entire pulley off and still couldnt get it. The pulley is too big it seems.

Put it all back together and run a string around it all. A/C, belt tensioner, and crank pulley. Cut the string to fit and take it to the parts store. Get a belt the same size as the string and it should fit. That is if they make a 5 or 6 rib ( I forget if it is 5 or 6) belt that size.
