Project "I can shift my own fuckin gears!"

Yeah, this is a thread dedicated to my Tremec 3550 swap into my merk. This thread will be updated with my latest developments, parts I buy, etc...

So far, I have half paid off the 3550, and already aquired an old lay back style shift lever, an old hurst indy shifts.. (chrome ) Just like the old musclecars, none of that new age bullshit.

I have decided on using a hydraulic clutch setup, F150 parts from the 80's should work... I looked at both a master and slave cylinder from 80's trucks at work today, and they look like they should work.

I will prob use an F150 dead pedal. I want full sized pedals for my wide ass feet! Shifting thru this shifter, with a white classic style hurst ball.
Tremecs can have thier shifters mounted in three places, front, center, or rear of the transmission. I will decide where, judging on my seats and where it will be when I get out the :hacksaw:, lol....

This will also live behind my 302 for a short time, while I build the 351... This would be a good time to slap the holley on the 302 for shits and giggles (no lokar cable shit, no line pressure) and I am NOT running an edelcrock, like that pussy justin..

    More to come!

            Hey GMGT!!

I see you finally got bitten by the stick shift bug.

Just a couple of questions for you.

#1 where were you planning on mounting the f150 master cylinder?
I looked at something similar, and thought that the brake booster would be in the way.

#2 what do you have against Edelbrock carbs? The are just repopped carter AFB's with a slightly different bowl. I have put on a few now and thus far they have all performed flawlessly out of the box. I have only had to use my carb tuning skills on one of them and that was because the former owner of it had a screwdriver, and couldnt find his own rectum with both hands and a flashlight. LOL

                        Ok, back on track..

You ask about the F150 master cylinder not working? Ill figure some way to make it work. Even if I have to come up with a different way to mount it, my trusty :hacksaw: will come in handy!!

I havent had much time to mess with it, with work, and messing with OTHER PEOPLES SHIT to make extra $$ for this taking up a lot of my time...

                        More info to come...
