    The Emissions Test: New Complications...

Yeah, so about that emissions test...
Once again, I didn't even get there today. The car died again on my way to school. It was running beautifully last night and this morning. But, as soon as I got off the highway, I didn't go a half mile and it stumbled and died.

Here are the circumstances. Rolling along the highway at 75+, the cars goes up and down hills without effort. But, as soon as I got off the highway, the car died on the first decent grade I hit. The engine bogged a little, which was when it started to stumble and die. I got it going again, and it was fine. But, when I got to the next decent grade, it stumbled and died again about halfway up the hill.

The distributor has been changed. The pick up and all is new. The rest of the ignition is newer as well, except for the Duraspark box. The ballast resistor for the Blaster 2F coil is in working order (I measured .8 ohms across it with the DMM). The plugs on the Durasprak box look to be okay, albeit a little nasty. The wiring that they connect to appears to be rather rough as well. But, would it even run if there was a problem like that?

Does this sound like spark or fuel? The car is starting fine now, so I know there is spark at this point.

My only thought as far as fuel is concerned is an inner leak or something in the carb, or the methanol in the fuel system has loosened some crap, clogging the fliter/ line. But, the filter is barely that, and I don't think it catches much of anything.

I don't want to go replacing half of the car here, but let me know what you think about all of this. What else could it be? Could it be the Duraspark box? Can I use the 2 plug box I bought for my carb swap with my VV, or do I need to have the three plug box (if thats the problem)?

did you change the fuel filter yet? i had a honda years ago that would do that even after i replaced the filter. i ended up taking it too a shop that test drove it every day for 4 days and couln't find a problem, the car ran great. i picked up the car and hot rodded it for about a mile and it started sputtering again. after i took it back to the shop they found another filter hidden where only a honda guy could find it that was plugged solid. after the car sat the fine sediment would settle and the car would run good. after driving the sediment would getshaken about and partially plug the filter
