    usually dead Ford carbs have torn or porous accel pump diaphrams. The Weber carbs I had on my VW used a nearly identical pump, it was basically cloth with a rubber-like coating on it. the rubber degrades and fuel will leak through from the bowl and drip out the accel pump jets.
