Good news, good news, good news. I passed emissions today; very close on the HC, and CO, but flying colors on the NOx. Very little alcohol in the car as well.

I never did drop the tank. The car just started running today. I probably rode around for 2 hours without a hiccup. So, the 4 bbl swap shall begin tomorrow night.

Sounds like you still need to drop the tank though, now all the crap plugging the inlet will be sucked into the pump...

Tis probable. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If I make it through this tank of gas without a hiccup, I think I should be okay.

Either way, when I do drop the tank, I'll make sure it isn't completely full...

Well, yeah definately run it dry first......It might take a tank or two to clog the inline filter, but it'll happen.

There is no inline filter... just a small filter in front of the carb. The one in the carb is a fuel filter only in name; you could pull grapes through that thing.

The 4 bbl swap will see the addition of an inline filter.

there is a dedicated tank vent line, so not having fuel come out by the pump when air is added to the tank doesn't neccesarily mean anything. It could have simply been venting the air out at the charcoal canister.

As far as things breaking, the studs are held in with a clip, so if one snaps it should be no big deal. Just slide it over and it should come down out of the frame. You can replace it with a bolt if you'd like, the clip is threaded. I'd be more concerned about the tank developing a leak in all honesty.

The tank itself is in good shape, aside from being dented. I have felt around on the top, and that also appears to be good.

Thain, thanks for the tip about the strap bolts, I will bear that in mind.

You are also right about the vent; but, we still expected something out the front, even if the vent was exhausting most of the compressed air.

Sindelir: it does have the right gas cap. I just took it through emissions today; they tested it and it passed fine. I appreciate the input though.

Yeah man... like over a week ago. I was really close on the HC (dead cats), and pretty close on the CO. But the NOx was really low.

I was elated, and also partially surprised; I didn't need to add any Methanol for it to pass; if anything it may have been detrimental.

Funky! So if you just replace the cats sometime before the next test session you should be good almost for sure?

Indeed. But, I passed with the VV, not the 1406; althought don't think a well tuned 1406 would have any trouble passing with EGR and cats.

I planning on swapping the exhaust this summer; not sure if I'll go with cats or not. My next test date isn't until after I'm done with school; at which point I'll have something else for a DD, and will have time to waste on the CV... we shall see
