Still have an annoying hesitation in the engine

Ok, I have put in a new cam/lifters, a new distributor cap/totary button and the car STILL has a hesitation...Only when the car is in motion...Whe you give her the gas she sort of hesitates, then if you dont either let off or push the pedal farther down she will quit....IDK...Just wonderin if anyone had any info on the lil problem...I DO know a new Edelbrock 4bblis goin on there in the next month....

    thanks all-

Accelerator pump probably isn't working. When's the last time the carburetor was rebuilt?

Are you running a VV or a 2150? 2150 I'd say accelerator pump is shot. VV doesn't have one, they're just bizzare.

It most certainly does have an accelerator pump...

He's running a 2150, though, now that you mention it.

they do? i could have sworn they used some enrichment diaphram thing in place of the pump, or is that the replacement for the choke that i'm thinking of?

Yeah, there's a cold enrichment system instead of a choke. Accelerator pump is still there.

Get an edelbrock 4bbl carb. They worked great on all the small block ford trucks around here.

I agree with everyone here. My friend had an 86 Celebrity 2.8 and the car would hesitate during acceleration, you would sort of have to feather the pedal to get it going. If you made the mistake of pushing it too far, it'd bog or just stall. It was of course the accelerator pump. Probably time to rebuild the carb.

351wcrayz, if I buy a certain S10, I'll sell you all the parts I have to do the 4bbl swap (which I won't need if I get the S10). I have the carb, throttle cable, AOD kickdown, ignition control module, and all the other small stuff. I also have the EGR plate and valve you need if you want to retain EGR.

I'd go with the 4bbl over the rebuilt 2150. The swap isn't that hard, and you may even pick up some performance.
