I never counted the turns lock-to-lock, but I'm pretty sure the '79 box was slower than the later ones.

manual steering

hey ryan i replaced the steering box on a 92 econoline and it was the same steering box as a box panther......there may have been a manual steering econoline at one point i dunno.......present body dates back to at least 1974 as far as i know
1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

Will that one fit your frame tho? Cause you know there's that plate-thing inside the framerail that the bolts for the steering box go through, if the Torino box uses a different bolt-pattern you will have to drill new holes and may run into interference issues with said plate-thing.

oh, frame can be drilled no problem, I brought up the plate inside the framerail cause it gots some pretty funky shape that may give you lotsa headache. As far as spline count, can't you just use a Torino pitman arm and attach the Panther drag-link to it? Some reaming may be required at the pitman arm, but it may just work.
