get a length of rope about 5 ft long or so, take out the spark plug and thread the rope into the hole with the piston at BDC of the compression stroke.leave some rope hanging out of the holeso you can get it out. rotate the engine by hand (not the starter) untill it stops turning. change the seals, back the engine up and remove the rope.

There should be something you can use to fill the cylinder with compressed air easily. I remember looking at 92-94 panthers and they have valve seal problems too, but nothing about the procedure made it sound horrible.
I got the KD P/N from work today. It is KD 901. That includes a fitting for 14mm plugs and one for 18mm plugs. If my memory serves me correctly the 5.0L has 14mm plugs.
