        carburetors FTL

this is why i'm a holy believer in Fuel injection.

never in a lifetime should you be having to pump the pedal a million times for it to start. if you have to, then your carb is fubar. if it was my car, i'd rip that junk off and put in fuel injecton.
        LTD is still here

i hate EFI carbs rule. the only reason i went EFI on the wagon is cuz i want it to pass emition testing.

It depends. If they're heavily fouled with fuel, usually they won't fire. Blowing them off with air is usually fine and they'll be OK. If they do get really wet and the engine eventually starts, it can cook the fuel onto the insulator and cause it to leave a conductive path to ground so it won't spark as reliably. If it gets oil fouled, it bakes the goo on there and the spark usually leaks to ground instead of firing the cylinder.

Glad you got it started! That first vid sounded like when I tried to start the '81 I'm getting; pumping the gas more and more seemed to help it, so possibly the accelerator pump is trashed and/or the choke isn't choking (no fast idle cam engagement). I hadn't known that about fouling out the plugs by flooding the engine ... kind of makes sense, though. Similar situation here, though - that motor isn't staying in the car, so all I care is that my EDL-1403 is still in good shape.
