thats exactly what the stang is doing. and it has a new holley 600 4barrel on it. the damn thing ran so good and one morning no go. it seems like quick start makes it kick over better.

i wonder if its gots somethin to do with the timing chain. does it have a crunching sound commin from the front of the motor when cranking it?

no not that i can hear, i just know that when it does run its got a hell of a knock, on account of the spun bearing, i just need it to run so i can move it easyer, till i can get it in the garage, and pull the motor for rebuild

My car would do that for either two things: 1) when the timing was way off. It would sound just like that. Check to see if your distributor is tight and not moving, if it's tight that timing chain or gears are shit and it will keep jump timing.

            2) when it was out of fuel. Try spraying some starter fluid in the carb and see if it starts.

I'd also say timing off and possibly flooded. If its real cold and you have the original plastic timing set, they have been known to just jump like that. The chain gets stretched out, cam is hard to turn, and it hops over and wont fire any more. Might be able to jockey the distributor around to make it run. They will run a tooth off but it wont be ideal, but you will have to bring the ignition timing back to where it belongs. Actually if you want to do a quick check on that theory, hook a timing light up and see if the marks line up properly. If the timing chain or something else moved, you'll see the timing marks not lining up with the pointer properly.

The F-100 wouldn't start today, it would do something like your LTD was doing. I got it started by spraying starter fluid in it. I could smell gas, but it wouldn't start. Sprayed it in the carb and it started right up if you still can't get it to start, you could try that.

Hmm thats weired, the plugs didn't look that bad. Someone at work tole me if you flood the motor it will wreck the spark plugs. Once the electrodes get soaked with gas they are fucked. Is this true?

Get a timing light and check the timing.
