Yep, that's how they are - saw one cut open at Ramcharger's in Madison Heights back in about '03. And if they're too quiet, you can do the Johnny Blaze Decibel Alteration by sticking a torch inside to burn up a controlled amount of the Continuous Roving Fiberglass packing.
